Take A Family Trip To The Kings Mountain Historical Museum

Kings Mountain Historical Museum

Do you want to learn a little local history? A trip to the Kings Mountain Historical Museum is in order. This museum is housed inside a former post office that operated from the 1940s to 1986. When you walk inside, you will find various exhibits, and since they change on a regular basis, there is always a reason to come back.

Get the scoop on the upcoming exhibits and events.

16th Annual Toys, Games, and Trains Exhibit (Nov. 23–Dec. 29)

It’s almost time for the 16th Annual Toys, Games, and Trains Exhibit. This exhibit comes back year after year because it is so neat. The model train collection is out of this world. Local “S” Gaugers assemble the trains, and let the museum display them. You will also find all kinds of railroad memorabilia, along with some cool antique games and toys.

So, you’re thinking, “There’s no way I will be impressed by some model trains.” Think again. The museum goes all out when creating the scenes that line the tracks. Ever seen a train track with hot air balloons, and interactive carousel, and other cool features? It’s really quite impressive.

Can’t wait for it to open? Attend the sneak preview on Nov. 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. It’s free to members and cost $10 to nonmembers. Along with the preview, you’ll get to enjoy some snacks.

Spirit of Christmas Past

The museum is all about the past, so it makes sense that it would host an event called the Spirit of Christmas Past. This will be on Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and it’s free. You will get to experience the Christmases of the past with electric trains, antique toys, and more. Oh, and the roaring fires will help you feel all cozy at the museum.

Santa’s Coming to the Museum

It turns out Santa likes a little bit of history, too. That’s why he and the Mrs. are stopping by on Dec. 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free event will be a blast for the kiddos. Mrs. Claus will read to the kids, and Santa will be there to pose for pictures. Plus, the museum will have a bunch of toys on display, making it easier for kids to create their holiday lists.

So, your kids are getting help to decide what they want for Christmas, but what about you? What do you want? If you’ve been really good this year, you deserve a nice gift. You can pick it up at Renaldo Honda in Shelby, North Carolina. You will love driving your new vehicle into the new year and beyond.
